The Right Tree in the Right Place!

Planting the right tree in the right place is the most critical decision for tree growers.

Selecting species that are well-suited to the site's conditions and soil type ensures trees
thrive with minimal maintenance, optimising growth and longevity.

Choosing the wrong species, however, leads to poor performance and eventual losses,
regardless of the level of care and upkeep provided.

Observation is the most reliable starting point. Assess the site and identify tree species already thriving in the immediate area.
For instance, if the site is damp and supports alder, consider planting alder or similar species such as
poplar, birch, willow, or whitethorn, which are well-adapted to wet conditions.

When in doubt—particularly for large-scale planting—consulting a professional is essential.
Soil testing and expert advice can help in making informed decisions, avoiding costly mistakes and
ensuring the long-term success of your planting efforts.
